Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years commercial cooking experience in a high-volume food service environment
  • Must obtain Texas Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of entry
  • Ability to work 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. shifts with rotating weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work onsite in the Texas Medical Center
  • Ability to adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Availability to cross-train and work different shifts and locations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years commercial cooking experience in a high-volume food service environment
  • Ability to obtain Texas Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of hire
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to train and supervise junior staff
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized recipes
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Job Duties

  • Produce quality food and beverages for patients, guests, and visitors
  • Maintain quality and freshness of food served in Patient Room Service and Dining Services
  • Follow departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Train Food Service Workers, Senior Food Service Workers, and Cooks I
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas daily
  • Prepare food items from standardized recipes with 100% accuracy
  • Manage food inventory with FIFO and record product transactions
