Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years experience in a high volume kitchen, preferably in an institute setting
  • Serve Safe certification or ability to earn within 6 months of employment
  • eligibility to work in the United States

Job Duties

  • Provide excellent service in a friendly, sincere, and courteous manner
  • assist Sous Chef in preparing menu items according to production specifications and recipes
  • communicate effectively with staff, student employees, other management team members, and the general public
  • assist in training and supervising students on all food procedures for both front and back of house operations
  • bring creativity to menu development in conjunction with Sous Chef and Management
  • assist in training student employees in proper production methods and sanitation procedures
  • maintain high level of student productivity during shifts
  • assist in maintaining proper labeling, rotation, and storage of all food items
  • ensure all foods are high quality, served and stored at proper temperatures and times
  • follow all health codes related to sanitation and safety
  • possess awareness and basic knowledge of allergens, food sensitivities, and dietetic restrictions
  • work with customers and management to resolve potential diet limitations
  • carry out special assignments as requested to provide coverage during high volume periods or staffing shortages
  • understand department and institute policies and objectives
  • attend meetings as required
  • report to work on time with proper uniform
  • adhere to break policies
  • follow workplace safety precautionary measures
  • perform other duties as assigned
