Job Requirements
- Possess high school diploma or GED
- One year of culinary work experience
- Must have current California Food Handlers Card
- Current certified training in emergency first aid procedures and CPR preferred
- Ability to interpret and implement approved menus
- Ability to follow the menu and prepare daily food listed
- Basic computer skills in Office 365, Teams, Zoom and other communication platforms
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to dependable, insured transportation
- Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and TB test

Job Duties
- Prepare and cook various menu items based on approved menus, special dietary, nutritional or cultural requirements or portions
- Develop meal plans and menus that meet nutritional standards and submit for pre-approval
- Conduct daily safety and sanitation inspections of food service and storage areas
- Clean and maintain kitchen and eating areas including counters, shelves, cabinets, walls, floors, drains, vents, ducts, ceiling, appliances
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment according to schedule ensuring proper storage
- Replenish supplies and purchase food weekly aligned with menu, budget, and inventory
- Receive, label, and place food and commodities on shelves following food handling requirements
- Taste test all food prior to serving and reserve samples for 24 hours for contamination checks
- Assist residents in food preparation as a resource
- Follow all safety procedures for knives and utensils
- Comply with food service budget and purchase ingredients and kitchen supplies within budget
- Ensure proper food storage and serving temperatures according to health regulations
- Model professional behavior with staff and residents
- Manage kitchen chemical supply inventory and review Safety Data Sheets
- Act quickly and efficiently in emergencies
- Drive on agency business when required
- Maintain physical presence at the program
