Job Requirements

  • minimum of 6 months directly related cooking experience
  • knowledge of food safety and handling practices
  • ability to work full-time weekdays from 7am to 3:30pm
  • physical ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally
  • willingness to work in an environment with moderate exposure to chemicals and kitchen equipment
  • adherence to hospital and state regulatory requirements
  • effective communication skills

Job Duties

  • prepare and serve a variety of specialty foods, pastries and main entrees including cooking and baking
  • coordinate and maintain cooking schedule and review production sheets to determine quantity for daily food and meal preparation
  • test foods being cooked for quality and adjust controls, timers, grill, and oven as required
  • label and store food items and utilize leftovers in accordance to guidelines and procedures
  • clean and maintain a sanitary work area ensuring compliance with hospital and state regulatory requirements
  • assist on special functions and catering events including preparation, setup, service, and cleanup
  • stock a variety of materials and supplies to ensure adequate inventory and assist in taking inventory and placing orders
  • assist in training and delegation of work for personnel in food service units at multiple locations
