Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must be able to pass food handler certification within 30 days of hire
- Must successfully complete required pre-service training
- Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required unless waived by management
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Food service training preferred
- One year of food service or related experience preferred
- Prior supervisory experience preferred
- Ability to pass food handler certification within 30 days of hire
- Ability to complete required pre-service training
- Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook quantity of food required according to menu and production sheet
- Maintain kitchen equipment in orderly workable condition
- Ensure work area is safe, clean and sanitary at all times
- Ensure the count and control of knives and other controlled kitchen tools
- Provide an accurate count of all controlled items at the beginning and end of each shift
- Prepare foods as directed for special facility functions and special diets when prescribed by staff doctor
- Assist in cleaning kitchen work areas following each meal
- Coordinate the work of inmates assigned to assist in the cafeteria
