Job Requirements
- Must have at least six months of food preparation work experience
- preferred six months cooking experience in a healthcare food service operation
- preferred graduation from a standard high school or equivalent
- ability to attend work regularly and work assigned shift schedules including evenings and weekends
- ability to lift minimum of 25 pounds and work standing or walking on hard floors for extended periods
- ability to work in hot and cold conditions
- ability to follow written and oral instructions
- ability to speak and read English
- valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain
- successful completion of food handler training and obtain Food Manager certification within six months of hire
- must pass background checks, drug screening, and registry checks
- ability to work overtime, holidays, and flexible hours as required
- must be at least 18 years old
- males 18 to 25 must be registered with Selective Service
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent preferred
- at least six months of food preparation work experience required
- six months cooking experience in a healthcare food service operation preferred
- knowledge of food preparation methods, storage standards, and sanitation regulations
- knowledge of specialized diets and textures
- skill in cooking, baking, and use of food preparation appliances and equipment
- ability to read and speak English
- ability to follow written and oral instructions
- ability to perform basic math for cooking
- ability to lift at least 25 pounds
- valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain
- Texas food handler training required
- Texas Food Manager or Food Protection Manager certification required within six months of hire
Job Duties
- Attends work on a regular basis and works assigned shift schedules including evenings and weekends
- prepares, seasons, cooks, and assembles food for regular and modified diets ensuring sanitary conditions
- operates and maintains food service equipment safely
- calculates proper food quantities using standardized menus and recipes
- assists in food distribution and serves food following safety protocols
- maintains sanitation and cleanliness in food preparation and service areas
- provides training and oversight to subordinate cooks and kitchen staff
- completes required records and reports and recommends operational improvements
- participates in disaster response and continuity of operations as assigned
