Job Requirements

  • ServSafe Food Handler Certification required
  • Previous experience as a cook in a healthcare setting required
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Capable of working variable shifts of 8 hours or less

Job Duties

  • Prepares hot food menu items for cafeteria, catering and patient meals according to standardized recipes
  • Follows recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, slicing and serving food
  • Operates kitchen equipment to measure, mix, wash, peel, cut and shred ingredients
  • Follows HACCP guidelines to identify potential hazards in food production
  • Applies proper cooking methods and techniques
  • Tastes product, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production, and keeps records
  • Sets up food prepared on serving line in proper quantities and backs up lines as needed
  • Completes closing list job duties timely and effectively
  • Complies with health department codes and sanitation rules
  • Maintains personal hygiene, food handling and storage standards
  • Maintains equipment and work area sanitation
