Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- food service training preferred
- one year of food service or related experience preferred
- prior supervisory experience preferred
- must be able to pass food handler certification within 30 days of hire
- must successfully complete required pre-service training
- valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required unless waived by management

Job Duties
- Prepare and cook quantity of food required according to menu and production sheet
- maintain kitchen equipment in orderly workable condition
- ensure work area is safe, clean and sanitary at all times
- ensure the count and control of knives and other controlled kitchen tools
- provide an accurate count of all controlled items at the beginning and end of each shift
- prepare foods as directed for special facility functions and special diets when prescribed by staff doctor
- assist in cleaning kitchen work areas following each meal
- coordinate the work of inmates assigned to assist in the cafeteria, which includes long periods of sitting and standing
