Job Requirements

  • no formal education required
  • at least one year of related culinary experience
  • certification as a food handler (Houston) or equivalent
  • able to document HACCP log sheets
  • must be able to speak and understand basic English
  • capable of standing or walking up to eight hours per day
  • able to bend, crouch, kneel, lift, see, reach, climb, and balance
  • able to detect scents and discern flavors
  • must be available to work varying shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • certified food handler's permit or equivalent (e.g., ServSafe)
  • three years of related culinary experience preferably in a commercial kitchen
  • ability to understand and follow standardized recipes and production sheets
  • strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • ability to detect scents and discern flavors
  • proficiency in basic English
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • prepares a variety of foods in accordance with menus and standardized recipes
  • ensures food quality, sanitation, and appearance standards are met
  • maintains clean work areas and assists with kitchen cleaning
  • performs specialized roles such as grill cook, pizza maker, food prep/sauces, lead dishwasher, or baker
  • participates in daily dishwashing and supervises dishwashing staff when assigned
  • assists in bakery production under direction
  • performs all other assigned duties
