Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
  • 1-3 years of experience in food service
  • ability to read and interpret safety rules and instructions
  • basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
  • ability to work in a loud environment
  • willingness to learn and operate cooking equipment
  • ability to follow recipes and food safety regulations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
  • at least 1-3 years of experience working in a food service environment required
  • ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • organized and self-directed individual who is a team player
  • ability to relate to people at all levels of an organization
  • ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • must be able, after training, to operate cooking equipment

Job Duties

  • Cook food in large quantities according to the menu and number of persons to be served
  • cut and prepare all varieties of meat, poultry, and fish, and demonstrate the safe operation of tools
  • comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards
  • observe proper food preparation and handling techniques
  • read and follow recipes and/or production requirements
  • serve meals
  • make box lunches, assemble, and pack the meal components for pickup
  • maintain high standards in food handling, serving, and replenishing in compliance with sanitation requirements of the food code and state and local laws/regulations
  • maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the interior and exterior of the dining facility
  • follow standard operation procedures to maintain consistency of service performed
  • perform other duties as assigned
