Job Description

City of Hope Orange County is a distinguished healthcare organization that is pioneering advanced cancer treatment and care in the Orange County region. As part of a regional network, the institution operates an 11-acre academic cancer campus located in Irvine, which houses the City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, an outpatient cancer center delivering comprehensive cancer care. The organization is also poised to open Orange County's only cancer specialty hospital by late 2025, a significant milestone that will bring a full spectrum of cancer treatment services closer to patients in the region.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 2 years of related work experience
  • Ability to follow recipes and food safety regulations
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment
  • Willingness to attend all mandatory training sessions
  • Ability to work part-time day and evening shifts
  • Ability to lift and move inventory and food supplies

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge of food preparation and safety standards
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately

  • Willingness to attend training programs and safety meetings

Job Duties

  • Prepares and cooks to order foods that may require short preparation time
  • Prepares food and serves customers at an a la carte and may operate a grill station
  • Prepares food in accordance with federal, state and City of Hope standards, guidelines and regulations
  • Reads food orders or receives verbal instructions and prepares and cooks food accordingly
  • Prepares meals for customers requiring special diets
  • Provides excellent customer service at all times
  • Follows recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving various foodstuffs
  • Operates kitchen equipment for measuring and mixing ingredients and prepping food
  • Tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production and keeps records
  • Cleans and sanitizes work stations and equipment
  • Attends allergy and foodborne illness training
  • Participates in safety meetings and training
  • Attends classroom and virtual training programs
  • Receives inventory and moves/lifts foodstuffs and supplies
  • Complies with all safety and risk management policies
  • Follows department policies including Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
