Job Requirements

  • Experience in food preparation work
  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent preferred
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours if necessary
  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on hard floors
  • Ability to work in hot and/or cold conditions
  • Ability to smell, taste, and see
  • Pass fingerprint criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening
  • Pass registry checks including Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System and employee misconduct lists
  • Males between 18-25 must be registered with Selective Service
  • At least 18 years of age to work at state-operated facility
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record if position requires driving
  • Willingness to work overtime and alternate shifts if required

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in food preparation work
  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to prepare and serve food safely and hygienically
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Basic math skills used in cooking and preparation
  • Ability to handle food according to federal, state, and HACCP regulations
  • Ability to supervise and train others
  • Ability to maintain sanitation and safety standards in food service areas
  • Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and residents
  • Valid driver’s license and eligible driving record if driving is required

Job Duties

  • Attend work on a regular basis and follow assigned shift schedule
  • Prepare food using proper equipment and utensils ensuring sanitary conditions
  • Prepare and portion food for special diets according to food service procedures
  • Maintain supply of snack items and prepare scheduled snacks and supplements
  • Supervise assigned employees in food preparation, delivery, sanitation, safety, and personal hygiene
  • Participate in the distribution of food in a safe and sanitary manner following food service policies
  • Follow food handling procedures according to federal, state, and HACCP guidelines
  • Receive delivery of food and supplies from vendors
  • Maintain sanitation procedures and storage of dishes and equipment
  • Clean kitchen, stockroom, food preparation, and satellite areas according to sanitation standards
  • Observe safety procedures and practices
  • Train and supervise others in food preparation
  • Handle cash safely when working in the facility canteen
  • Maintain work areas in a sanitary and orderly condition
  • Answer telephone promptly and transmit messages clearly
  • Complete required policy training
  • Participate in disaster response, recovery, or COOP activation as needed
