Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 0 to 2 years of related work experience
- Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately
- Knowledge of food safety standards
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks
- Willingness to participate in safety and allergy training
- Ability to work flexible hours including meal periods

- Ability to follow recipes and food preparation procedures
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations

- Basic cooking techniques and kitchen equipment operation skills
Job Duties
- Prepares and cooks ‘to order’ foods that may require short preparation time
- May prepare food and serve customers at an a la carte and operate a grill station
- Prepares food in accordance with federal, state and City of Hope standards, guidelines and regulations
- Reads food order or receives verbal instructions and prepares and cooks food accordingly
- May prepare meals for customers requiring special diets
- Provides excellent customer service
- Follows recipes and directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving various foods
- Operates kitchen equipment for measuring, mixing, washing, peeling, cutting and trimming food
- Tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production and keeps records
- May clean and sanitize work stations and equipment
- Attends allergy and foodborne illness trainings and participates in safety meetings and hazard assessments
- May receive inventory and move or lift foodstuffs and supplies
- Complies with safety and risk management policies
- Follows department policies and performance guidelines
- Maintains confidentiality and integrity
- Performs other related duties as assigned
