Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • no felony, theft, or stealing convictions
  • pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screen
  • successfully complete background investigation
  • obtain and maintain gaming license
  • stand for extended periods
  • ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • work days, evenings, graveyards, holidays and weekends
  • physically able to perform kitchen tasks including cutting, grabbing, lifting, washing and holding items
  • maintain professional behavior
  • work in a noisy kitchen environment with exposure to heat, fumes and second hand smoke

Job Qualifications

  • High school degree or GED preferred
  • two years of recent cooking experience or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • knowledge of kitchen equipment and safe practices
  • basic butchery and sauce preparation skills
  • ability to obtain Food Handlers card and TIPS certification
  • basic English communication skills
  • outstanding guest service skills
  • ability to work in fast paced environments
  • professional appearance and conduct
  • organizational and task coordination skills
  • knowledge of food safety regulations
  • ability to learn culinary methods and principles
  • effective communication with all management levels

Job Duties

  • Cooks and prepares a variety of foods according to menu and demand
  • uses and learns proper knife skills and cooking techniques
  • reads and follows standardized recipes
  • communicates and coordinates with Assistant Sous Chef
  • maintains clean and sanitized work areas following all health and safety regulations
  • manages food and storage areas ensuring cleanliness, organization, and proper labeling
  • ensures kitchen and venue readiness for opening
  • demonstrates Desert Diamond Casino on brand attitude and service standards
  • works according to established casino procedures
  • communicates effectively with team members
  • contributes to team efforts and performs other duties as required
