Job Requirements

  • Experience in food preparation work
  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must pass fingerprint criminal background check
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen
  • Must pass registry checks including Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System, Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, and Employee Misconduct
  • Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours
  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds
  • Valid driver's license and eligible driving record if driving is required
  • Must comply with agency leave policy
  • Compliance with random drug testing
  • Males aged 18-25 must be registered with Selective Service

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in food preparation work
  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to prepare and serve food safely
  • Knowledge of food preparation methods and sanitation regulations
  • Skill in operating and sanitizing food service equipment
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Basic math skills applicable to cooking and food preparation
  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk on hard floors for extended periods
  • Ability to work in hot and cold kitchen environments
  • Ability to communicate well and work cooperatively with co-workers and residents

Job Duties

  • Attend work regularly and work assigned shifts including rotating, extended shifts, and overtime as required
  • Prepare food using proper equipment and utensils ensuring sanitary conditions
  • Prepare and portion food for regular and special therapeutic diets
  • Maintain supply of snack items and prepare scheduled snacks and supplements
  • Supervise and train assigned employees in food preparation, sanitation, safety, and personal hygiene
  • Distribute food in a safe and sanitary manner according to food service policies
  • Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures per state, federal, and HACCP guidelines
  • Receive deliveries of food and supplies and ensure proper storage
  • Clean kitchen, stockroom, food prep areas, and satellite areas following sanitation protocols
  • Observe and follow safety procedures
  • Handle cash safely when working in the canteen
  • Maintain work areas organized and sanitary
  • Complete required training and participate in disaster response or COOP activities as assigned
  • Respond promptly and professionally to telephone inquiries and communicate messages clearly
