Job Requirements

  • Experience in food preparation work
  • graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent preferred
  • may require valid driver’s license and eligible driving record if driving duties assigned
  • must be at least 18 years of age
  • willingness to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • pass criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks
  • males 18-25 must be registered with Selective Service
  • must be non-exempt employee
  • able to work varied shifts including evenings and weekends
  • flexibility to work extended hours during emergencies
  • able to lift 25 pounds
  • ability to stand and walk on hard floors for extended periods
  • comply with food safety and sanitation standards

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in food preparation work
  • graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is preferred
  • knowledge of food preparation methods, food storage standards, and sanitation regulations
  • skill in operating and sanitizing food service equipment
  • ability to prepare and serve food and maintain accurate records
  • ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • ability to complete basic math used in food preparation
  • ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
  • ability to work in hot and cold conditions
  • ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and residents
  • valid driver’s license for driving duties if required

Job Duties

  • Prepare food using proper equipment and utensils and in a manner that ensures sanitary conditions
  • prepare and portion food for special diets following food service procedures
  • supervise assigned employees in food preparation, delivery, sanitation, safety, and personal hygiene when required
  • distribute food safely and sanitarily according to food service policies
  • assist in serving food for special diets following proper procedures
  • follow food handling procedures according to state, federal, and HACCP guidelines
  • receive delivery of food and supplies from vendors
  • follow sanitation procedures for cleaning kitchen, stock room, and food preparation areas
  • observe safety procedures and practices
  • train and supervise others in food preparation when required
  • maintain work areas in a sanitary and organized manner
  • handle cash safely in the facility canteen when required
  • complete required training
  • actively participate in disaster response or continuity of operations roles when assigned
