Job Requirements

  • Two years of prior cold prep experience
  • ability to learn and assist in food preparation and cooking
  • capability to maintain food safety and sanitation standards
  • basic knowledge of kitchen utensils and equipment
  • ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately
  • good physical stamina for kitchen work
  • must be available for full-time shifts including early mornings
  • commute to St. Paul's School location in Concord, NH
  • willingness to adhere to company policies including drug-free workplace regulations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • two years of prior cold prep experience required
  • basic culinary skills and knowledge of kitchen equipment
  • ability to follow recipes and standard food safety procedures
  • strong communication and teamwork skills
  • willingness to learn and take direction
  • physical ability to perform kitchen tasks
  • prior experience in foodservice or institutional kitchen settings is a plus

Job Duties

  • Reads menu to estimate food requirements
  • orders food from supplier or procures it from storage
  • prepares and cooks food in accordance with company production records and standardized recipes
  • adjusts thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters and steam kettles
  • measures and mixes ingredients according to recipes using kitchen utensils and equipment
  • bakes, roasts, broils and steam meats, fish, vegetables and other foods under guidance
  • adds seasoning to food during mixing or cooking
  • tests food by tasting, smelling and piercing to determine doneness
  • carves meat, portions food on serving plates, and adds gravies, sauces and garnishes
  • washes, peels, cuts and shreds fruits and vegetables
  • butchers chicken, fish and shellfish as directed
  • bakes bread, rolls, cakes and pastry as permitted
  • maintains work area and equipment
  • follows sanitation and safety principles in handling food
  • interacts with customers and coworkers courteously and efficiently
  • ensures compliance with service standards and inventory and cash control procedures
  • performs other duties as assigned
