Job Requirements
- Institutional and restaurant experience
- good working knowledge of commercial food preparation and production standards including sanitation safety standards
- knowledge of commercial grade kitchen equipment
- ability to function independently with minimal supervision
- excellent interpersonal communication skills
- flexibility and willingness to shift priorities
- knowledge of service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
- ability to interact effectively with agency staff and a diverse client base
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- institutional and restaurant experience
- knowledge of commercial food preparation and production standards
- ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment

- knowledge of cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of service population
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- one to two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Job Duties
- Oversees the preparation of meals
- executes and maintains an efficient, economical and nutritious food service program
- receives and supervises food donations and arranges for storage of food products
- monitors quality standards in meal production
- ensures kitchen sanitation and safety regulations are followed
- monitors costs of raw materials
- controls portions, waste, and maintains inventory levels
- manages volunteer teams during meal preparation and serving
- coordinates with Night Shelter staff for breakfast service
- trains volunteers related to job duties
- maintains confidentiality of client and agency information
- ensures regular attendance
- applies creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery
