Job Requirements
- graduation from high school or its equivalency
- one year of batch cooking experience involving main dishes and hot and cold food items preparation
- possession of a valid and current Certified Food Protection Manager certificate approved by the State of California
- valid class c California driver license and use of private automobile if required
- ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- ability to work in varied temperature environments including extreme heat and cold
- ability to safely handle kitchen equipment and chemical agents
- compliance with USDA Professional Standards continuing education
Job Qualifications
- graduation from high school or equivalent
- one year of batch cooking experience in a central kitchen, restaurant, or large institutional setting
- possession of a valid and current Certified Food Protection Manager certificate approved by the State of California
- ability to work independently and manage food preparation in large quantities
- strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Job Duties
- cook and prepare a variety of main dishes and hot food items including meats and vegetables according to federal and state menu requirements
- conduct inventory and maintain related records
- maintain food service facilities and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
- rework recipes to increase or decrease yield as needed
- direct the work of assigned staff assisting in food preparation
- work independently while collaborating with the Head Cook on food quality and adjustments
- meet daily timelines to ensure food readiness for delivery
