Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- One to two years of recent cooking experience
- Serve Safe Certification
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation regulations
- Ability to prepare meals according to recipes and dietary needs
- Ability to supervise kitchen staff in absence of manager or lead cook
- Must pass post offer pre employment testing including criminal background check, drug test, TB screen and health screen
- Must sign arbitration agreement as a condition of employment
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- One to two years recent experience as a cook
- Serve Safe Certification
- Knowledge of safe food handling and preparation
- Knowledge of good practices to avoid waste and misuse
- Ability to present foods attractively and test quality by taste and smell
- Broad knowledge of breakfast, lunch and dinner entree preparation
- Broad knowledge of scratch soups, sauces, gravies, starches and vegetables
Job Duties
- Applies sanitation and safety techniques while working
- Responsible for all kitchen activities in the absence of the Food and Nutrition Manager or Lead Cook
- Prepares and cooks meals according to menus and recipes while adhering to all diets
- Measures and mixes food ingredients according to recipes and menus, preparing all types of food according to food production methods and regulatory requirements
- Practices and applies portion control during preparation and service of all diets
- Performs cleaning and maintenance of kitchen community and equipment according to schedules and procedures, maintains logs
- Communicates changes or substitutions on daily menus to supervisor
- Ensures proper labeling, dating and rotation of foods in all storage areas
- Works in accordance with safety guidelines established by the community, emphasizing proper body mechanics and safe work practices
- Familiar with food service disaster plan
