Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification within 60 days of hire
  • ability to communicate and understand verbal and written English language and math
  • ability to complete mandatory computer-based learning and pass exam
  • ability to understand and follow safety regulations in a food service healthcare environment
  • ability to work scheduled shifts including weekends and holidays
  • physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform kitchen duties safely

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred or equivalent experience preferred
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification within 60 days of hire
  • ability to communicate and understand verbal and written English language and math
  • ability to complete mandatory computer-based learning and pass exam
  • understanding of safety regulations in a food service healthcare environment
  • experience in food preparation in a healthcare or high-volume kitchen preferred

Job Duties

  • Ensures the safety of customers and team members according to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points and County Health Department guidelines
  • washes hands frequently and appropriately wears gloves
  • follows infection prevention practices including personal hygiene expectations and reports potential risks
  • maintains all work areas clean and organized free of spills and fall hazards
  • monitors and records food and equipment temperatures and immediately corrects or escalates out of range occurrences
  • stores food and supplies using proper labeling, dating and rotation methods
  • operates equipment according to safety guidelines and escalates any unsafe conditions
  • follows department work schedule including weekends and holidays and arrives prior to task start time
  • sets up, maintains and breaks down workstation according to area requirements
  • follows written and verbal instructions and station responsibilities accurately and attentively
  • completes area checklists and forms
  • operates and cares for equipment according to manufacturer and area specific guidelines
  • supports other team members across the department
  • follows work area uniform specifications ensuring clothing and shoes are neat and clean
  • collaborates with team members and leadership to meet department and hospital goals
  • communicates respectfully and clearly respecting cultural traditions
  • properly peels and cuts fresh products including butchering meats and dicing, julienne or mincing vegetables
  • utilizes proper cooking techniques such as dry, wet, and combination methods
  • identifies and properly handles and cooks vegetables, meats, spices, pasta and dairy products
  • accurately reads and follows recipes including measurement, mathematical conversion and scaling skills
