Job Requirements

  • high school diploma general-preferred
  • relevant experience preferred
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification within 60 days of hire
  • ability to communicate and understand verbal and written English language and math
  • ability to complete mandatory computer-based learning and pass exam
  • ability to understand and follow safety regulations in a food service healthcare environment

Job Qualifications

  • certification in ServSafe Food Handler within 60 days of hire
  • ability to communicate and understand verbal and written English
  • capable of completing mandatory computer-based learning and exams
  • knowledge of safety regulations in a healthcare food service environment
  • skill in culinary techniques and food quality assessment

Job Duties

  • prepares nutritious and delicious food for Wellstar Patient Meal Service and other areas
  • adheres to all sanitation and food handling codes including HACCP and local health department guidelines
  • manages time and plans work to produce multiple recipes simultaneously
  • assesses food quality by taste, color, and odor
  • monitors and records food and equipment temperatures, correcting issues immediately
  • follows department work schedules and maintains workstations
  • operates and cares for kitchen equipment according to safety guidelines
  • follows written and verbal instructions with accuracy and attention to detail
  • collaborates with team members and leadership to meet department goals
  • communicates respectfully and clearly
  • respects cultural traditions of team members and customers
  • utilizes proper cooking techniques including dry, wet, and combination methods
  • accurately reads and follows recipes including measurements and conversions
  • complies with all Wellstar policies and code of conduct
  • performs other duties as assigned
