Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-3 years of cooking experience in hotel and/or restaurant settings
- Food Safety and Sanitation Certification within 1 year of starting the position
- Ability to follow established recipes and HACCP guidelines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to maintain food safety, sanitation, and quality standards
- Flexibility to provide relief coverage in various areas
- Team-oriented mindset
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), or GED equivalent programs
- 1-3 years of hotel and/or restaurant cooking experience
- Observed good cooking techniques
- Team player
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- AAS Culinary Degree preferred
- Health facilities cooking experience or healthcare nutrition knowledge preferred
- Food Safety and Sanitation Certification within 1 year of entering position
Job Duties
- Prepares and cooks all menu items to order in accordance with HACCP guidelines and established recipes
- Determines food requirements, stocks food, utensils and equipment accordingly, and sets up mise en place
- Checks food temperatures using a thermometer to ensure safe cooking, holding, and serving temperatures
- Ensures all food served meets standards of presentation, taste, quality, temperature, portion control, and safety and sanitation
- Maintains timeliness of menu preparation and presentation in accordance with service needs
- Cleans work/service area at end of production and stores remaining food according to HACCP guidelines including covering, labeling, and dating
- Maintains refrigerators clean, stocked for meal service, and utilizes leftovers to avoid waste
- Provides relief coverage in all areas of room service as needed
- Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies
