Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 year cooking experience in hotel or restaurant
- Ability to follow cooking techniques and standardized recipes
- Strong team collaboration skills
- Effective verbal and written communication in English
- Food Service Safety and Sanitation Certification within first year of employment
- Physical ability to lift 30 lbs, push/pull 75 lbs, and stand for 8 hours
- Adherence to safety, sanitation and organizational standards
- Willingness to participate in staff development and quality improvement initiatives
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED) or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of hotel or restaurant cooking experience
- Observed good cooking techniques
- Team player
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Associates degree in Culinary Arts (preferred)
- Health facilities cooking experience or healthcare nutrition knowledge (preferred)
- Food Service Safety and Sanitation Certification such as ServSafe or Prometric within one year of hire
Job Duties
- Performs all food preparation and cooking functions, maintaining all quality standards
- Prepares food accurately following production sheets and standardized recipes
- Controls and adheres to all established procedures and State requirements regarding safe food handling, storage and service
- Uses strict sanitation standards at all times including hand washing, proper glove usage, and continuous sanitizing of food contact surfaces, utensils, equipment and work stations
- Strictly monitors and maintains food temperatures at all times
- Wraps, dates and labels all food items in storage
- Adheres to FIFO inventory method
- Operates cooking equipment following established procedures and safety precautions
- Monitors and controls quantities of foods prepared and records leftovers and waste
- Informs the Production Supervisor/Chef of any production-related issues
- Sets up and breaks down food serving lines efficiently and timely
- Maintains and records HACCP logs and complies with related safety and food storage regulations
- Participates in cleaning assignments and overall sanitation of production areas with emphasis on individual work stations
- Completes daily assignments and assists co-workers as needed
- Participates in staff development and quality improvement programs
- Works independently and as part of a team maintaining effective relationships
- Adheres to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior
- Lifts a minimum of 30 lbs, pushes and pulls a minimum of 75 lbs, and stands for at least 8 hours daily
- Performs other related duties as assigned
