Job Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years cooking experience
  • ability to work weekday schedule with rotating weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years cooking experience
  • experience in a retirement community, hospitality or line cook position preferred
  • knowledge of food safety protocols and HACCP standards
  • ability to follow standardized recipes and portion control
  • strong teamwork and communication skills
  • commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety in the kitchen
  • ability to work rotating weekends as required

Job Duties

  • Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules
  • serves meals or prepares for delivery using correct portioning, ensuring food is at correct temperature and is attractive and tasty
  • tastes all prepared food items
  • uses established ticket collection procedures during service
  • cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high cleanliness standards
  • stores or discards excess food according to safe food-handling procedures
  • keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat ensuring food and supply items are stored per standards
  • operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed
  • assists in production planning, record keeping and reporting
  • assists in ordering and receiving of food and supplies
  • reports maintenance needs, faulty equipment or accidents to supervisor immediately
  • attends in-service and safety meetings
  • maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers
  • performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • ensures proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of serving temperatures following HACCP standards
  • personal commitment to own safety and that of others
  • abides by all company policies and procedures including use of protective gloves, mitts, slip-resistant shoes and proper lifting techniques
