Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2-3 years of cooking experience
  • able to prepare meals in accordance with menus, recipes and diet plans
  • able to understand and follow recipes
  • able to read, write and communicate in English
  • physically able to perform work tasks
  • comply with Resident Bill of Rights and employee responsibilities
  • comply with safety policies and procedures
  • able to perform essential duties

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2-3 years of cooking experience
  • banquet cooking experience a plus
  • previous supervisory experience a plus
  • previous senior living experience a plus
  • ability to prepare meals according to written menu, approved recipes, and special diet requirements
  • ability to understand recipes
  • ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • ability to perform physical work tasks
  • ability to comply with Resident Bill of Rights and employee responsibilities
  • ability to comply with safety policies and procedures
  • ability to perform essential duties

Job Duties

  • Model a service attitude towards others
  • take ownership in solving problems and take initiative to improve
  • be friendly and courteous to residents, patients, and coworkers
  • ensure safety by remaining aware of and reporting safety hazards
  • maintain good attendance and arrive on time
  • perform all job duties safely
  • wear appropriate protective gear such as aprons and hair nets
  • follow opening and closing procedures
  • maintain cleanliness standards including washing hands and food
  • prepare and cook meals according to menus, recipes, and diet plans including therapeutic and puree diets
  • prepare alternate meal options as needed
  • pull items needed according to production sheets and recipes
  • clean work area and equipment such as ovens, steamers, tilt sink, and food warmers
  • perform a final check of the area to ensure cleanliness and proper storage
  • taste, smell, and observe food to ensure conformity with recipes and appearance
  • comply with standards established by the department manager
  • monitor portion control for individual residents
  • follow posted timeline guides for cooks according to shift
  • perform other duties as assigned by the chef
