Job Requirements

  • ability to read, write, and speak English
  • high school graduate or equivalent education preferred
  • willing and able to work flexible hours, including during emergency situations
  • able to stand and walk intermittently throughout the day
  • ability to lift and carry 50 to 75 pounds
  • able to work with cleaning chemicals
  • passed background checks and drug screening
  • reliable commute or relocation to Fort Smith, AR
  • previous restaurant experience of at least 1 year preferred

Job Qualifications

  • minimum two years food service experience in a healthcare dietary setting preferred
  • minimum two years culinary or cooking background
  • experience working in food and beverage operation preferred
  • general knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioned serving
  • ability to read, understand, and follow recipe directions, diet orders and work assignments
  • must be patient and tolerant toward staff, patients, and family members

Job Duties

  • prepare food in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards
  • assist in preparation of patient, family, and employee meals
  • help deliver and take orders as needed
  • follow standardized recipes, portioning, menu extensions, and presentation standards
  • complete daily production worksheets and waste log sheets
  • taste completed meals to ensure quality
  • monitor temperature of hot and cold foods to meet established standards
  • check and inspect food products and supplies as delivered in the absence of the Director of Culinary
  • supervise and assist in storage of supplies and food products
  • notify Director of Culinary of food, supplies, or equipment needs
  • report equipment breakdowns and unsafe conditions
  • comply with health and sanitation regulations and departmental procedures
  • perform other department duties as assigned by Director of Culinary
