Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum one-year related experience
  • Knowledge of and ability to learn food serving, cleanliness and sanitation requirements
  • Ability to use up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or 20 pounds continuously to move food service and preparation equipment
  • Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to turn, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, stand and walk over 75% of shift

Job Duties

  • Prepare food items using standardized recipes and ensure all food meets quality and service standards
  • Prepare meals based on menu requirements
  • Review menus and select appropriate ingredients and supplies for meal preparation
  • Obtain necessary supplies from storage areas in adequate time for meal production
  • Cook breakfast, lunch, or dinner meals that are nourishing, palatable and appetizing
  • Monitor quality of food during production for taste, smell, appearance, and temperature
  • Prepare meals cost-effectively and efficiently while utilizing food items and equipment safely
  • Obtain approval from supervisor on all food substitutions
  • Maintain meal count and documentation records
  • Monitor for overproduction and recommend appropriate utilization of leftovers
  • Maintain food inventories and complete requisition forms
