Job Requirements

  • Prior grill cook or salad prep experience preferred
  • Availability for mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Ability to perform physical tasks involved in the cook role
  • Willingness to comply with safety and hygiene standards
  • Capable of standing for extended periods and lifting as required
  • Ability to work full-time hours
  • Eligible to work at the MUSC Columbia Downtown location

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior grill cook or salad prep experience preferred
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and safety protocols
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work varied shifts including mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Commitment to safety and teamwork
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment operation and maintenance

Job Duties

  • Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production schedules
  • Serves meals or prepares for delivery using correct portioning and maintaining proper temperature
  • Uses established ticket collection procedures during service and maintains accurate records
  • Cleans kitchen and stores excess food according to safe food-handling procedures
  • Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and ensures proper storage of food and supplies
  • Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed
  • Assists in ordering and receiving food and supplies
  • Reports maintenance issues and attends safety meetings
  • Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, and management
  • Performs duties safely and maintains a clean, safe work environment
  • Ensures proper presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures following HACCP standards
