Job Requirements
- Three years of prior cooking experience
- Ability to work full-time Tuesday to Saturday, 11:30 am to 8:00 pm
- Ability to adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
- Physical ability to perform kitchen duties including lifting and standing for extended periods
- Willingness to wear required safety equipment such as cut gloves and slip-resistant shoes
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment
- Ability to follow company policies and procedures
- Availability to work at Miss Porter's School in Farmington, CT
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of three years cooking experience
- Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen areas
- Commitment to adhering to safety procedures and company policies
Job Duties
- Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules
- Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty
- Uses established ticket collection procedures during service and maintains records
- Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness
- Stores or discards excess food following safe food-handling procedures
- Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat, ensuring food and supply items are stored properly
- Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed
- Assists in production planning, record keeping and reporting
- Assists in ordering and receiving food and supplies
- Reports needed maintenance or equipment faults immediately
- Attends in-service and safety meetings
- Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers
- Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
- Ensures proper presentation, portion control and serving temperatures, follows HACCP standards
- Demonstrates personal commitment to safety and abides by all company policies and procedures regarding safety gear and practices
- Performs other duties as assigned
