Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Six months experience in large quantity food preparation
- Experience with therapeutic diet preparation preferred
- Six months experience in a long term care environment preferred
- ServSafe Food Safety Certification required
- Food Handlers permit if required per state regulations
- Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Must be at least 18 years of age due to federal child labor laws
- Ability to read, speak, understand, and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to do basic math
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents and families
- Ability to follow safety and infection control procedures
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Prepares food for regular and therapeutic diets according to planned menus
- Prepares alternative items to meet individual residents' needs and preferences
- Uses proper food handling and safety techniques in food preparation and portioning
- Makes authorized menu changes and records them appropriately
- Ensures food tastes good and is served attractively and at the right temperature
- Utilizes standardized recipes for menu items
- Delivers meals and snacks on schedule
- Monitors and records food and refrigerator/freezer temperatures
- Serves meals accurately in accordance with diet orders and preferences
- Labels, dates, and stores food properly
- Washes dishes and kitchen items following procedures
- Maintains a clean and organized work area
- Performs cleaning assignments with proper chemicals
- Uses protective equipment and infection control techniques
- Assists with receiving and storing supplies
- Reports equipment issues and stock levels to Culinary Manager
- Works cooperatively with co-workers and interacts positively with residents and visitors
- Ensures punctuality and regular attendance
- Performs additional duties as assigned
- Attends in-service education and applies learning
- Assumes Culinary Department responsibilities in manager's absence
- Demonstrates professional conduct and ethics
