Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or satisfactory completion of UCHealth-administered basic competency test
- Minimum of one year of cooking or food preparation experience
- Ability to follow standardized recipes accurately
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills
- Flexibility to work day and evening shifts on a rotating schedule

Job Duties
- Reviews menu and special orders to determine types and quantities of food items to be prepared
- Follows standardized recipes in preparation of all foods
- Plans cooking schedule with supervisor and/or executive chef to ensure food will be ready at specified times
- Confers with supervisor and/or executive chef regarding modified diet preparation and use of leftovers
- Adheres to all applicable guidelines regarding storage, handling, and preparation of food as well as sanitation and maintenance of work area
- Utilizes critical thinking skills and judgment to work with minimal supervision
- Works effectively in a fast-paced environment and takes appropriate action
