Job Requirements

  • Capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Ability to understand and communicate written and verbal directions
  • Regular attendance, reliability and punctuality
  • Ability to work nights and weekends upon request
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed
  • May be responsible to work on an on-call basis

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of one or more years of food preparation experience in a directly related field
  • Culinary background experience preferred
  • Proficient in English, verbal and written
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Active Serve Safe Certification or Food Handlers Certificate preferred
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Well organized with excellent attention to detail
  • Aptitude to work independently with excellent time management skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare meals that follow the menus and recipes
  • Inspect special diet trays to assure the correct diet is served
  • Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures
  • Prepare food for therapeutic diets and special diet orders
  • Prepare cold item foods, bakery, and salad items
  • Cook hot foods as directed by supervisor
  • Ensure culinary practices, procedures, and food safety are followed
  • Adhere to food service timelines
  • Prepare and serve substitute foods to residents who refuse daily menu options
  • Serve meals to residents and guests as needed
  • Assist in food preparation for special meals, parties, and events
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas
  • Assist with food prep for upcoming meals
  • Assist with inventory and replenishment of food and supplies
  • Meet federal and state in-service requirements
