Job Requirements
- High school diploma
- current/active food handlers permit
- must be 18 years of age
- one year dietary/food service experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, nursing care facility, or related medical facility preferred but not necessary
- ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- supportive team member
- ability to make independent decisions
- tactful with personnel, residents, family, visitors, and general public
- patience and tact in dealing with difficult residents, family and staff
- no threat to health and safety of others in the workplace
- ability to move intermittently throughout the workday
- meet general health requirements including medical exams and immunity checks

- ability to assist in evacuation during emergencies

Job Duties
- Review menus prior to food preparation and prepare meals
- work with dietitian/director of food services to implement recommended changes
- perform assigned duties and administrative tasks such as completing necessary forms and reports
- assist in establishing food service production line for timely meal preparation
- process diet changes and new diet orders from nursing services
- prepare meals according to planned menus
- prepare and serve appetizing and palatable meals
- assist in serving meals timely
- serve meals in accordance with standardized portion control
- prepare food following standardized recipes, therapeutic diets, and special diet orders
- ensure appropriate utensils and equipment on residents meal trays
- prepare bedtime snacks
- prepare and serve substitute foods for residents who refuse served foods
- assist or direct daily cleaning duties
- assist in food preparation for special meals and parties
- maintain stock levels of staple and non-staple food, supplies, and equipment
