Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Age over 18 years
  • Background clearance as required by government regulations
  • Retain a current food handler's permit
  • Minimum two years' experience cooking
  • Negative TB test results
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to speak, write and read English
  • Ability to operate computer, necessary software programs (word, email, excel), scanners, copiers, and fax machines
  • Ability to be professional at all times with other team members, residents, family members, and visitors
  • Must be able to lift and push 50lbs
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day and throughout the community
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years cooking experience
  • Current food handler's permit
  • Excellent communication skills including speaking, writing, and reading English
  • Ability to operate computers and software programs such as word processing, email, and Excel
  • Ability to be professional with team members, residents, family members, and visitors

Job Duties

  • Arrive to work on time and prepared for your shift
  • Prepare all food items in accordance with planned menus and recipes, ensuring meals are appetizing, nutritional, and meet special dietary requests
  • Ensure all food is served at the correct temperature and charted accordingly
  • Ensure proper plate presentation
  • Consult with the Director of Dining Services on any menu changes or substitutions
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of food storage areas
  • Prepare food following governmental, sanitary, and dietitian regulations and report infractions
  • Manage timely receipt and care of food orders
  • Dispose of food and waste according to policies
  • Properly store, label, and date leftovers
  • Record temperatures of refrigerators, freezers, and dishwashers
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas
  • Supervise servers and dishwashers
  • Prepare upcoming menu items according to recipes
  • Manage safe storage and efficient use of kitchen inventory
  • Promote a positive and friendly team attitude
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Dining Services, Sous Chef, or Executive Director
