Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Age over 18 years
- Background clearance as required by government regulations
- Current food handler permit
- Minimum two years cooking experience
- Negative tuberculosis test results
- Excellent communication skills including ability to speak, write and read English
- Ability to operate computer software programs such as word, email and excel
- Ability to maintain professional behavior with team members, residents, family and visitors
- Ability to lift and push up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for long periods and move intermittently throughout the community
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years cooking experience
- Valid food handler's permit
- Excellent communication skills including speaking, writing and reading English
- Ability to operate computers and necessary software such as word processing, email and spreadsheets
- Ability to maintain professionalism with team members, residents, family members and visitors
Job Duties
- Arrive on time and prepared for every shift
- Prepare all food items according to planned menus and recipes ensuring meals are appetizing and meet dietary requirements
- Ensure all food is served at correct temperatures and chart appropriately
- Maintain proper plate presentation
- Consult with the Director of Dining Services on menu changes or substitutions
- Keep food storage areas clean and organized at all times
- Prepare food in compliance with all governmental, sanitary and dietary regulations
- Take timely responsibility for food orders upon arrival
- Dispose of food and waste following established policies
- Properly store, label and date all leftovers
- Record temperatures of refrigerators, freezers and dishwashers
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas
- Supervise servers and dishwashers as needed
- Prepare upcoming menu items ensuring they are stocked and ready as per recipes
- Manage safe storage and efficient use of kitchen inventory
- Promote a positive and friendly team attitude
- Perform other duties as assigned by Directors or Executive Director
