Job Requirements
- High school diploma preferred
- Less than one year of previous job-related experience required
- 1-2 years of previous job-related experience preferred
- Ability to work part-time with rotating shifts
- Compliance with health and safety standards
- Ability to wear a properly cleaned uniform at all times
- Ability to participate in ongoing training and education
Job Qualifications
- Culinary training acquired through culinary school or years of experience in institutional setting
- Ability to follow standardized recipes and procedures
- Knowledge of various cooking methods such as baking, roasting, steaming, grilling and frying
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
Job Duties
- Prepares, seasons and cooks various foods for consumption in cafeteria or patient rooms
- Reviews menus and production schedules to determine quantities needed
- Plans cooking schedule in conjunction with supervisor and assists with stocking and ordering
- Prepares food by following standardized recipes and procedures
- Ensures all foods meet standards for quality of taste and temperature
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of food preparation areas
- Accurately documents leftover foods, food temperatures, and production records
- Participates in job related training and in-service education
- Performs other duties as assigned to facilitate the operation flow of the Food and Nutrition Department
