Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Experience in food services as a cook
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English
  • Must be able to read and comprehend recipes
  • Must be able to use simple arithmetic
  • Must be able to use simple office machines, meat slicers, mixers, steamers, and other institutional cooking equipment
  • Must be able to perform several tasks at the same time
  • Ability to handle high stress situations
  • Ability to produce products with last minute notice
  • Ability to follow instruction and acceptance of guidance

Job Qualifications

  • Skill in operating office machines, meat slicers, mixers, steamers, and institutional cooking equipment
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously such as assembling trays and reading menus
  • Ability to handle high stress situations
  • Ability to follow instructions and accept guidance

Job Duties

  • Maintain principles of proper food production
  • Prepare and cook foods such as meats, soups, sauces, gravies, starch, entrees, vegetables, and special orders
  • Ensure food is prepared according to menu
  • Confer with supervisors on the use of leftovers and menu changes
  • Maintain high standards of food handling and cleanliness in the work area
  • Uphold high personal cleanliness standards
  • Collaborate with staff to provide optimal food, nutritional, and environmental services to patients, visitors, and staff
