Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizen
  • Ability to prepare and serve meals for groups
  • Experience in cooking for groups of people
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 45 lbs
  • Capacity to work split shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Willingness to comply with safety regulations
  • Good physical condition for prolonged standing, walking, and climbing
  • Color and depth perception
  • Ability to see in low visibility
  • Must qualify by experience alone
  • Availability for intermittent duties as dual-rated Cook Steward with required license

Job Qualifications

  • Ability or potential ability to perform the work of a Cook without more than normal supervision
  • Knowledge of materials, tools, and equipment used in cooking for groups
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Experience in meal preparation for groups
  • Ability to comply with safety practices
  • Physical capability to lift, stand, walk, and climb for long periods
  • Valid U.S. Coast Guard License and Certification (for dual-rated duties)

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve meals including meats, poultry, fish, vegetables, fruits, and baked goods
  • Utilize materials, tools, and equipment used in group cooking
  • Follow safety protocols including wearing protective clothing and gear
  • Perform work assignments given by the Cook-Steward
  • Work split shifts, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Lift and carry equipment and supplies up to 45 lbs and occasionally above
  • Maintain physical condition to perform prolonged standing, walking, and climbing activities
