Job Requirements

  • three years of experience in large scale cooking or equivalent combination of experience and training
  • associate degree from a regionally accredited or NYS registered two-year college in Food Service Administration, Dietetics, or Nutrition and one year of experience in large scale food preparation
  • ability to perform heavy lifting
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • strong leadership and communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered two-year college with an associate degree in Food Service Administration, Dietetics, or Nutrition and one year of experience in large scale food preparation
  • superior customer service skills
  • knowledge of DOH regulations and National School Lunch/Breakfast Program requirements
  • ability to manage a team effectively

Job Duties

  • oversee all aspects of food preparation and serving for 500+ students
  • directly supervise 5-10 employees
  • ensure compliance with Department of Health regulations and National School Lunch/Breakfast Program requirements
  • manage daily operations including inventory, ordering, and accurate recordkeeping
  • maintain food quality control and safe storage and handling
  • uphold kitchen sanitation and equipment maintenance
  • handle cash transactions and employee time records
  • perform heavy lifting as required
