Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to demonstrate cooking skills and follow printed recipes and plate specifications
  • basic food safety knowledge and/or ServeSafe certification
  • ability to get 90% or above on food safety quiz
  • knowledge of basic kitchen equipment operations and maintenance
  • physical ability to reach, bend, stoop and lift frequently up to 40 pounds
  • ability to work standing for long periods in a fast-paced and hot environment
  • reliable transportation and dependable attendance
  • open availability including holidays and weekends
  • effective English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • ability to take direction in a positive manner

Job Qualifications

  • basic food safety knowledge and/or be serve safe certified
  • knowledge of basic kitchen equipment operations & maintenance
  • effective English communication skills, both verbal & written

Job Duties

  • assumes 100% responsibility for quality of products served
  • knows and complies consistently with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures
  • prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment
  • stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period
  • portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
  • maintains a clean and sanitary workstation area including tables, shelves, grills, fryers, pasta cookers, saute burners, convection oven and refrigeration equipment
  • prepares item for grilling, frying, sauteing or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinating
  • follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes
  • handles, stores and rotates all products properly
  • assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed
  • closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations
  • assists others in closing the kitchen
  • performs other related duties as assigned by the Chef or manager-on-duty
  • be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift 40 pounds
  • be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • must have the ability to work in a fast paced and hot environment
  • must have regular, reliable & dependable transportation & attendance
  • attends all scheduled team member meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
  • effective English communication skills, both verbal & written to clearly communicate with managers, kitchen & serving staff
  • must have open availability, including holidays & weekends
