Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- basic food safety knowledge or serve safe certification
- 90 percent or above on food safety quiz
- ability to follow recipes and plate specifications
- ability to work in a fast-paced and hot environment
- reliable and dependable transportation and attendance
- open availability including holidays and weekends
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- experience preferred but not necessary
- demonstrate cooking skills and ability to follow printed recipes and plate specifications
- basic food safety knowledge and/or be serve safe certified
- effective English communication skills both verbal and written
- ability to work in a guest and team-oriented environment
- positive attitude and ability to take direction
- knowledge of basic kitchen equipment operations and maintenance
- ability to work in standing position for long periods and lift 40 pounds
Job Duties
- Assumes 100 percent responsibility for quality of products served
- knows and complies consistently with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, kitchen rules, policies and procedures
- prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items using ovens, grills, fryers and other kitchen equipment
- stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations
- portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
- maintains a clean and sanitary workstation including tables, shelves, grills, fryers, pasta cookers, saute burners, convection oven and refrigeration equipment
- prepares items for grilling, frying, sauteing by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and marinating
- follows proper plate presentation and garnish setup for all dishes
- handles, stores and rotates all products properly
- assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods
- closes the kitchen properly following the closing checklist
- performs other related duties as assigned
- able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift 40 pounds
- able to work in a standing position for long periods
- able to work in a fast-paced and hot environment
- attends all scheduled team meetings and contributes suggestions for improvement
- communicates effectively in English with managers and staff
- maintains regular, reliable and dependable attendance
- works open availability including holidays and weekends
