Job Description

Fort Knox DoDEA Family Member School Lunch Program is a Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) operated cafeteria service dedicated to providing nutritious and well-balanced meals to students and staff within the military community. Job Requirements

  • Direct deposit and social security card required
  • Meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements
  • One-year probationary period may be required
  • Completion of E-Verify employment verification
  • Completion of minimum 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training within 30 days of employment and 4 hours refresher training annually
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks and Child Care Tier 1 background investigation
  • Current health assessment documenting good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations including annual influenza vaccination
  • Ability to work under Army NAF pay setting rules and conditions

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 months of work experience related to the duties described, including skill with professional kitchen appliances and equipment
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English
  • Resumes must be two pages or less, clearly demonstrating relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities
  • Effective communication skills

Job Duties

  • Works under the written and verbal direction of the supervisor
  • Serves as a cook in a DoDEA cafeteria in accordance with regulations and standards
  • Follows standard recipes and menus according to USDA CACFP and Army policies including portion sizes and meal patterns
  • Performs various food preparation and cooking tasks such as cleaning, paring, peeling, slicing, dicing, grilling, frying, baking, broiling, pouring liquids and mixing ingredients
  • Prepares and cooks complicated and time-consuming foods such as meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, stews, casseroles, gravies, sauces, and baked goods following standard recipes
