Job Requirements

- One-year probationary period may be required
- Satisfactorily complete employment verification (E-Verify)
- Completion of minimum 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training within 30 days of employment and annual 4 hours refresher training
- Subject to Child Care Tier 1 background investigation
- Current health assessment documenting good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations including annual influenza vaccination
- Ability to lift or move objects up to 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally heavier objects with assistance
- Ability to meet all federal and Army regulations
- Must relocate to Fort Campbell area if selected
- This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system
- No incentives or bonuses are paid for this vacancy
Job Qualifications
- Work experience related to duties described, including skill in using professional kitchen appliances and equipment
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English
- Resumes must be two pages or less and clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities
- Valid ServSafe Certification is highly preferred
- Minimum of six months work experience in a school kitchen setting is highly preferred
Job Duties
- Serve as a cook in a Department of Defense Education Activity cafeteria following all applicable regulations and standards
- Follow standard recipes and menus in accordance with USDA CACFP and Army policies
- Meet with supervisor to coordinate feeding plans and manage allergies or substitutions when required
- Perform a full range of simple cooking tasks including preparing pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers, and vegetables
- Prepare food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, slicing, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring, or breading
- Operate a variety of kitchen equipment using gas, electricity, steam, or microwave heat sources
- Use and clean cooking utensils to measure, weigh, and process food items
- Clean, store, and maintain all equipment and work areas after use
