Job Requirements

  • Previous experience as a short-order cook is helpful
  • customer service-oriented attitude
  • must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • previous experience in a dietary or food service role is a plus but not required
  • ability to follow instructions and established routines
  • basic understanding of infection control protocols
  • ability to work well as part of a team
  • ability to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks
  • reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve a variety of meals as directed
  • adhere to Federal and State long-term care regulations for food safety and sanitation
  • keep the kitchen and work areas clean by washing and cleaning equipment and utensils
  • safely operate and assess the condition of food service equipment
  • perform other duties or assignments as directed by the Dietary Manager
  • set up dining areas and assist with serving meals to residents and facility staff
  • ensure work areas are kept clean and organized
  • wash and sanitize food preparation equipment, utensils, floors, dishes, flatware, and trays
  • follow established routines and instructions for meal preparation and service
  • adhere to infection control protocols to ensure a safe and sanitary environment
  • provide excellent customer service to residents and staff
  • load and unload the dishwasher, ensuring it operates efficiently
  • keep the work area clean, organized, and free of clutter
  • follow health and safety regulations to maintain a sanitary kitchen environment
  • collaborate with other kitchen staff as part of a team
