Job Requirements

Sufficient education to demonstrate functional literacy
Minimum one year institutional food service experience as a cook
Ability to follow recipes and comply with food safety regulations
Knowledge of infection control and occupational safety procedures
Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
Must be able to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
Capability to handle kitchen equipment safely and efficiently

Job Qualifications

Sufficient education to demonstrate functional literacy
Minimum one year institutional food service experience as a cook
Preferred experience in long-term care food production
Knowledge of food handling, preparation and storage techniques
Ability to follow recipes and standardized diet plans
Ability to supervise kitchen assistants
Understanding of infection control policies and safety regulations
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work various shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

Assist with preparation of meals, salads, desserts, and snacks for residents
Follow diet and NPO orders
Serve nourishments according to guidelines
Properly store leftovers and opened food
Serve partner meals following procedures
Offer and record menu substitutions
Comply with infection control policies
Deliver trays to residents in halls and dining areas
Assist in serving beverages and prepare coffee/tea
Clean dining tables after meals
Clean work area and kitchen equipment after shifts
Remove garbage and clean garbage containers
Scrape and wash dishes, pots, and pans
Record freezer and refrigerator temperatures
Maintain dishwasher and check water temperatures
Manage supply stock and storage
Set up and perform tray line service
Operate kitchen equipment including dish machine and meat slicer
Use and maintain serving equipment
Apply knowledge of food handling and preparation regulations
Follow recipes and prepare meals according to dietitian menus
Supervise kitchen staff assistants
Maintain clean food service work areas
Prepare food substitutes for resident preferences
Inspect trays for resident acceptance and report
Follow equipment cleaning and maintenance schedules
Handle food storage and disposal per regulations
Participate in surveys and continuing education
Honor residents' rights and comply with corporate compliance
Report occupational hazards and follow safety procedures
Perform other duties as assigned
Demonstrate respect for residents' dignity and rights
Follow emergency and disaster procedures
Adhere to infection control measures and use PPE
Communicate with Dietary Manager
Assist with state inspection preparations
Report injuries immediately
