Job Requirements
- must be at least 18 years of age at time of appointment
- meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements
- direct deposit and social security card required
- may require one-year probationary period
- satisfactory completion of employment verification (E-Verify) and Child Care Tier 1 background investigation
- completion of minimum 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training within 30 days of employment and minimum 4 hours refresher training annually
- current health assessment documenting mental and physical health and immunizations including flu vaccination
- may work irregular hours including evenings and weekends
- ability to lift or move objects up to 40 pounds unassisted and heavier with assistance
- ability to stand on tile floors with risk of burns, cuts, bruises, slipping
- work performed in hot, noisy kitchen environment exposed to steam, fumes, and extreme temperature changes
Job Qualifications
- minimum of 6 months work experience directly related to food service duties
- experience with professional kitchen appliances and equipment
- ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English
- ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds on a routine basis
- resumes must be two pages or less and clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities
Job Duties
- apply knowledge and skill to assist in planning and implementing a comprehensive food service program that follows USDA CACFP policies and procedures
- perform a variety of food preparation and cooking tasks including cleaning, paring, peeling, slicing, dicing, grilling, frying, baking, broiling, pouring liquids and mixing ingredients
- prepare and cook a variety of complicated and time-consuming foods such as meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, stews, casseroles, gravies, sauces, and baked goods following standard recipes
- work with Food and Nutrition Specialists to prepare menus and submit food orders and purchase requests
- assist with on the job training of other kitchen staff members and serve as consultant to youth cooking clubs, health and fitness programs as required
- follow risk management procedures
