Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- at least one year of cooking experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- culinary certified training preferred
- valid health or food handler card as required by local or state government
- ability to lift or carry up to 75 pounds
- ability to stand for extended periods and move safely and efficiently in the kitchen
- availability to work nights, weekends and holidays as required
- strong communication skills
- ability to multitask efficiently
- commitment to maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards
Job Qualifications
- At least one year experience cooking in a fast-paced kitchen line and food preparation
- culinary certified training preferred
- basic knowledge of cooking, following recipes, portion control and presentation
- effective communication skills with kitchen staff, wait staff and supervisors
- reading and writing abilities for recipe preparation, scheduling and inventory monitoring
- mathematical skills including basic math, percentages, quantities and variances
- alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state agencies
- ability to work nights, weekends and/or holidays
Job Duties
- Control food usage to minimize waste
- prepare and cook orders for daily operations in a timely manner
- advise supervisor of low inventory items
- assist in receiving items and taking inventory as required
- restock items as needed through the shift
- maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen area that meet or exceed health board and company requirements
- maintain a clean, neat and well-organized work area including reach-ins, walk-ins and counters
- report unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor
- assist by performing ware washing or other kitchen duties as needed
- promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
- perform more than one task at a time
