Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • at least one year of cooking experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • culinary certified training preferred
  • valid health or food handler card as required by local or state government
  • ability to lift or carry up to 75 pounds
  • ability to stand for extended periods and move safely and efficiently in the kitchen
  • availability to work nights, weekends and holidays as required
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to multitask efficiently
  • commitment to maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year experience cooking in a fast-paced kitchen line and food preparation
  • culinary certified training preferred
  • basic knowledge of cooking, following recipes, portion control and presentation
  • effective communication skills with kitchen staff, wait staff and supervisors
  • reading and writing abilities for recipe preparation, scheduling and inventory monitoring
  • mathematical skills including basic math, percentages, quantities and variances
  • alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state agencies
  • ability to work nights, weekends and/or holidays

Job Duties

  • Control food usage to minimize waste
  • prepare and cook orders for daily operations in a timely manner
  • advise supervisor of low inventory items
  • assist in receiving items and taking inventory as required
  • restock items as needed through the shift
  • maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen area that meet or exceed health board and company requirements
  • maintain a clean, neat and well-organized work area including reach-ins, walk-ins and counters
  • report unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor
  • assist by performing ware washing or other kitchen duties as needed
  • promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
  • perform more than one task at a time
