Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or Bronze level ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate
  • must complete Defensive Driving training
  • must become certified in CPR and First Aid within three months of hire
  • must obtain and retain a Food Handler's certification card within 30 days of employment
  • must pass county paid pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening
  • must pass county paid criminal background screening
  • must possess and maintain valid New Mexico Class D Driver's License
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • availability to work occasional irregular hours
  • willingness to work in kitchen and outdoor settings with exposure to heat, dust, fumes, and potentially hostile individuals

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • completion of Defensive Driving training
  • certification in CPR and First Aid within three months of hire
  • Food Handler's certification within 30 days of employment
  • basic computer skills for record keeping and inventory management
  • knowledge of institutional food preparation and safety standards
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to operate kitchen equipment
  • ability to speak Spanish is desirable

Job Duties

  • Prepares, seasons, cooks, portions, and serves meals and snacks to provide nutritionally balanced meals for patrons
  • preserves raw and prepared foods to prevent spoilage and contamination adhering to health guidelines
  • cleans, sanitizes, and maintains work area, kitchen equipment, appliances, utensils, lunchroom, dishes, kitchen and dining areas
  • plans and prepares daily menu
  • records food served and portioned to patrons daily
  • orders and conducts inventories of food and food supplies
  • manages supplies, equipment, and kitchen resources
  • unloads and stocks bulk raw food products and supplies
  • provides catering and sack lunches for special events and activities
