Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED or Bronze level ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate
- must complete Defensive Driving training
- must become certified in CPR and First Aid within three months of hire
- must obtain and retain a Food Handler's certification card within 30 days of employment
- must pass county paid pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening
- must pass county paid criminal background screening
- must possess and maintain valid New Mexico Class D Driver's License
- ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- availability to work occasional irregular hours
- willingness to work in kitchen and outdoor settings with exposure to heat, dust, fumes, and potentially hostile individuals
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- completion of Defensive Driving training
- certification in CPR and First Aid within three months of hire
- Food Handler's certification within 30 days of employment
- basic computer skills for record keeping and inventory management
- knowledge of institutional food preparation and safety standards
- effective communication skills
- ability to operate kitchen equipment
- ability to speak Spanish is desirable
Job Duties
- Prepares, seasons, cooks, portions, and serves meals and snacks to provide nutritionally balanced meals for patrons
- preserves raw and prepared foods to prevent spoilage and contamination adhering to health guidelines
- cleans, sanitizes, and maintains work area, kitchen equipment, appliances, utensils, lunchroom, dishes, kitchen and dining areas
- plans and prepares daily menu
- records food served and portioned to patrons daily
- orders and conducts inventories of food and food supplies
- manages supplies, equipment, and kitchen resources
- unloads and stocks bulk raw food products and supplies
- provides catering and sack lunches for special events and activities
