Job Requirements

  • Minimum of one year cooking experience in restaurant or dietary department of hospital or similar environment
  • Must have required State certification or food service license
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Ability to comply with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Physical ability to perform cooking and cleaning duties
  • Ability to work under supervision and in a team environment

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year cooking experience in restaurant or dietary department of hospital or similar environment
  • General kitchen or dietary experience may be considered
  • Must have required State certification or food service license
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent knowledge and skills
  • Ability to follow food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and quality assurance
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Job Duties

  • Prepares, cooks, and serves food according to menu and food nutrition standards
  • Samples food for quality assurance prior to service
  • Ensures foods are cooked and held at appropriate temperatures and records temperatures
  • Partners with supervisor to review menus and record substitutions
  • Maintains clean and safe work area and assists in scheduled cleaning
  • Ensures proper storage, rotation, preparation, and labeling of food
  • Reports faulty equipment and ensures proper equipment functioning
  • Follows fire safety, infection control, and hazardous chemical practices
  • Assists in planning special meals, events, and parties
  • Attends training, in-services, and staff meetings
